Brought back fond memories of GNP during a visit as a child in the 1970s, andrecently with my husband. What an adventurous family the Parratts were I was captivated by the experiences Mark described in this book it brought back memories of our wonderful 15 mile hike there in 1968 An extra bonus was that Mark s wife is a long ago penpal of mine It is such a small world I loved this book, probably because I live 15 miles from Glacier National Park I also know the niece of the author, so I had heard some of these stories before Imagining living in the parkit blows my mind. Did I finish this book with the feeling I really enjoyed it, or that its writing quality and editing were somewhat short Both are true in my case This is not a polished professional work, but it is an interesting set of connected stories from a time half a generation ahead of mine. `READ EPUB ☛ Fate Is a Mountain ⇨ Fate Is A Mountain explores Glacier National Park history from the perspective of the late ranger Lloyd Parratt s sons Mark, Monty, and Smitty The family summered in the old Sun Camp Ranger Station on Saint Mary Lake in the s and s and their story covers the glory days of living and working in America s Crown Jewel These true stories include Mark s adventures as a fire guard in the Belly River country, working under legendary ranger, Joe Heimes, Monty Parratt s first hand description of his summers working out of the primitive Blister Rust Camp near Oldman Lake, and Smitty s heart wrenching account as a ten year old boy mauled by a female grizzly along the Otokomi Lake Trail Georgia and the Tycoon Monty Home for Christmas and Smitty The family summered in the old Sun Camp Ranger Station on Saint Mary Lake in the s and s and their story covers the glory days of living and working in America s Crown Jewel These true stories include Mark s adventures as a fire guard in the Belly River country Claimed by the Desert Prince working under legendary ranger The Way Back Joe Heimes His Pregnant Housekeeper Monty Parratt s first hand description of his summers working out of the primitive Blister Rust Camp near Oldman Lake Elemental Desire (Desire, and Smitty s heart wrenching account as a ten year old boy mauled by a female grizzly along the Otokomi Lake Trail
